HOT HOT HOT
this topic got really intense and i loved every minute of it. there were many moments where i thought some peoples feelings were going get hurt, but everyone was respectful and strong. im kind of saddened that most of the time we were talking about how emergency rooms are filled with illegal immigrants, and thats why it takes forever to see a doctor. a little bit of a let down, but as soon as we got past that little scuttle we moved into dangerous territoy like race and the color of peoples skin. i didnt like the fact that people were making generalizations and stereotyping, but i guess you kind of have to in a situation involving race. overall i enjoyed this discussion as i have enjoyed the ones before, but this one seemed to hit a little closer to home for some kids in the class.
and thank you to mr palo for staying quiet the whole time and letting us do our business, i think we accomplish more when you arent there holding our hands guiding us through what we should be doing on our own.
i look forward to any discusions i have with people now about topics like this, because now i know i can actually talk and understand the whole story not just what everyone generally knows.
